2015 Feature: Recess

Given the nickname “Button Boy” (pink dot on his nose) by his young owner and future rider Ella, Recess is a 5-year-old Swedish Warmblood (Rashka x Mona Lisa) who was started by Rick and made his show debut with Kari in the spring of 2014.

At his very first show he had to learn that bright white paint horses were no different than him, and that he had a job to do.  And what a job he did! Recess won the high score for training level at his first show and hasn’t looked back since.

Recess has traveled everywhere with us, competing in training and first level with Kari up.  His scores qualified him for USDF Regionals in Mason City, IA, where he won Reserve Champion in 1st Level and placed 4th in Training Level – both of which qualified him for USDF Finals in Kentucky.

As the 2014 show year came to a close, Recess had earned:

  • Top Ten in Training Level and a Top Ten in 1st Level at USDF Finals
  • High score for Swedish Warmblood at USDF Finals
  • The year-end Champion spot for Training and 1st Levels for the Swedish Warmblood Association of North America (SWANA)
  • The Champion Training Level and Reserve Champion 1st Level horse in the Central States Dressage and Eventing Association (CSDEA) year-end awards

He is certainly a beautiful, talented, and sweet boy!
